The public will be provided with information on the construction schedule, details on various aspects of the project and planned traffic control strategies. The public will also be given an opportunity to ask questions.

The project will widen Willow Avenue by two additional northbound travel lanes from Shepherd Avenue to approximately ¼ of a mile north of International Avenue.  Additional improvements will include a bike lane, raised median and street lighting. At the same time the City of Clovis will be installing water and sewer infrastructure necessary for future growth.

“Willow Avenue is a vital corridor for many Fresno County residents, and as the cities of Fresno and Clovis continue to expand north,” said County Supervisor Steve Brandau who represents the area around the project. “Increasing the capacity of Willow becomes critical for residents trying to get to school, work, or for recreation. I encourage anyone who travels this way to come hear this important presentation by Clovis to learn more about their project and to see alternate routes around the construction.”

Once completed the daily commute of students and educators to the Clovis North Educational Center and Clovis Community College will be vastly improved. Residents who utilize Willow Avenue for day to day travel will also see a significant improvement in traffic flow. Anticipated completion of the project is November 29, 2019.

Traffic on Willow Avenue will remain open during construction, with the City of Fresno assisting in allowing traffic to shift into the west side of the median temporarily, as half mile segments are under construction.

Elected officials and their representatives from the City of Clovis, City of Fresno, and County of Fresno will be in attendance.

The project is being funded by Measure C, which was approved by Fresno County voters in 2006. Additional information on the project can be found at ClovisProjects.com. That site will be updated regularly to ensure the public receives the most up to date information throughout the duration of the project.
