Fresno County Adopts Temporary Housing Ordinance to Assist Residents Impacted by Creek Fire disaster

The Fresno County Board of Supervisors has adopted a Temporary Housing Ordinance that modifies and suspends various County Zoning Ordinance Regulations to allow for the occupancy of recreational vehicles and tiny homes on properties located within the Creek Fire disaster area that were damaged or destroyed by fire.

Fresno County Drop Boxes are Ready for Voted Ballots Today

Today, the second and last truckload of ballots was taken to the U. S. Post Office in downtown Fresno, to be mailed to registered voters for the November 3, 2020 election. The first batch of 240,000 ballots was mailed on Friday and many had already been received in the mail on Saturday. Today’s second and last batch was roughly the same size as Friday’s.

In accordance with the Voters Choice Act, every registered voter in Fresno County will once again receive their ballot in the mail.

Fresno County to Open Local Assistance Center (LAC) for Residents Impacted by Creek Fire

UPDATE: As of Friday, October 9, 2020, the Local Assistance Center has closed and transitioned to virtual status. Services may now be accessed online at fresnocountyca.gov/recovery

This Monday, September 21, the County of Fresno will open a multi-agency Local Assistance Center (LAC) at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District located at 808 4^th Street, Clovis, CA 93612 to support residents impacted by the Creek Fire as part of the ongoing recovery process.

The LAC will be open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until further notice. This center will serve as a one-stop shop to help connect residents and property owners with assistance and resources available through a variety of state and local agencies. Available resources include, and are not limited to, critical document replacement services, social services, economic recovery and financial services, motor vehicle services, healthcare, mental health services and Red Cross.

Fresno County releases CAL FIRE preliminary damage information on the Creek Fire

CAL FIRE, in collaboration with the County of Fresno, has released a preliminary interactive map of the Creek Fire. The interactive map displays preliminary information about damaged and destroyed property. Not all properties have been inspected. It is anticipated it will take two weeks for completion. The public may access the map online and enter an address(es) to see limited information on the condition of property based on initial reports from damage assessment teams.

Fresno County hosts Virtual Town Hall to Discuss Homekey/Hotel Fresno Revitalization Proposal

Representatives of the County of Fresno, RH Community Builders, UPholdings, and the Fresno-Madera Continuum of Care recently joined to conduct a virtual community Town Hall meeting to discuss efforts to aquire and rehabilitate the Hotel Fresno on Blackstone/Dakota Avenues and provide assistance to persons experiencing homelessness as part of the State of California’s Homekey program.

Fresno County reminds community to avoid large gatherings and continue COVID-19 prevention measures over Labor Day weekend

The Labor Day holiday weekend is this weekend. While traditionally the holiday is a time for many to come together in celebration with family and friends, this year the County of Fresno is reminding residents to celebrate safely while staying apart and avoiding gatherings in the ongoing effort to combat COVID-19.

“Fresno County can’t move forward in our recovery unless we all work together to help slow the spread of the virus,” says Buddy Mendes, Chairman of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors. “Social gatherings continue to be among the leading sources of exposure and spread of COVID-19 so it is important to avoid these high-risk activities so we can continue moving in the right direction.”

Fresno County Recognizes National Poll Worker Recruitment Day on September 1

Fresno County Office of Elections announced today that they will be participating in National Poll Worker Recruitment Day on September 1 to encourage more people to sign up to become election workers for the November election. Fresno County is looking to recruit an additional 500+ paid workers for the upcoming election.

Fresno-Madera Continuum of Care releases 2020 Point-in-Time Homeless Count for the Region

Today, the Fresno-Madera Continuum of Care (FMCoC) joined the County of Fresno, City of Fresno and Fresno Housing Authority to release the 2020 Point-in-Time Count, the annual count of the region’s sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals and families. At 3,641, this year’s report represents an increase of 45% or 1,133 homeless individuals in comparison to the 2019 count of 2,508. The FMCoC typically releases the count in June; however, the submittal deadline was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Fresno County, Fresno EOC announce agreements to enhance COVID-19 education and outreach to vulnerable communities

The Fresno County Board of Supervisors joined with the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (EOC) this week to announce the approval of two contracts aimed to aid the County’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19. The contracts, funded by approximately $5.5 million of CARES Act funding, will provide enhanced education, outreach and case management in vulnerable communities as well as bolster the County’s medical investigation, testing and contact tracing capacity.
